County Attorney Announces Retirement - Recruitment Process Open for Interested Applicants
WESTMINSTER, MD, Wednesday, September 30, 2026 – County Attorney Tim Burke recently announced his retirement from Carroll County Government. After 31 years of service and a 40-year legal career, Burke will leave his role effective November 4, 2026. He shared, “I had always intended to retire at this point to allow the Board of Commissioners to select a replacement who could begin at the start of the Board’s next term.” Burke began his tenure with county government in 1996 and was appointed County Attorney in 2011.
While the search for a permanent replacement moves forward and a candidate is hired, Assistant County Attorney Elizabeth Moore will serve as Interim County Attorney beginning on November 5th. The application process is open, and anyone interested can review the job announcement and requirements on LinkedIn.
Commissioner Vigliotti, President of the Board of Commissioners, shared, "Tim's thirty-one years of hard work and unfailing, dedicated service have been a tremendous benefit for our citizens and the County. On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, we wish Tim the best and a long, happy retirement. We will miss his expertise and sense of humor around the office. We also know that Ms. Moore will serve competently and professionally in Tim's stead as Acting County Attorney, and know that County legal services will continue with the same exceptional quality as a permanent replacement is sought."
